The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) leadership has expressed concern at the slow pace of the opposition cooperation negotiations.

At a leadership forum held over the weekend to discuss among others, the negotiations, the party said the talks should meet the December 31 deadline.

By the end of December 31, 2011 the four opposition partners of BCP, Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD), Botswana National Front (BNF) and Botswana Peoples Party (BPP) are supposed to conclude the talks. "It was the view of the Leadership Forum that the expeditious conclusion of the talks will assist cooperating parties to prepare for the 2014 general elections," BCP spokesman Taolo Lucas said after the leadership meeting.
