FRANCISTOWN: A Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) officer told a magistrate this week that a Directorate of Intelligence Services' (DIS) spy facing a bribery charge walked into a trap set-up by the anti-graft agency at a bank.

DCEC assistant investigator, Selolwane Marupe said the trap was laid after they received reports in January this year that a DIS man (name withheld) was soliciting P1,800 from Zimbabwean, Thabani Moyo to keep his mouth shut.

Marupe alleged that the money was meant to restrain and silence the DIS officer who had threatened to take action against Moyo for working without a permit. Marupe said that on January 28, 2012 Moyo came to their office and told them that DIS spy said he would collect money that day.
