FRANCISTOWN: Councillors in Francistown have expressed displeasure at the reduction of the city's revenue support grant for the financial year 2011/12 to P116 million from the proposed P143,528,000.

A special full council meeting held last week to report on this development, revealed that the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning had reduced the city's revenue support grant due to financial constraints and that the majority of the budget has been allocated to personnel development. In response, the civic leaders roundly expressed disappointment at the ministry's decision to slash the council's budget, saying they are going to face a huge challenge in their effort to bring developments to the city.

Councillor Buti Billy of Satellite South said the council is already faced with the huge challenge of trying to manage expenses due to vandalism on road signs by motorists.
