Sky Clouds (Pty) Ltd has resolved to align salaries at the University of Botswana (UB) Hotel and Conference Centre with the government proposed P4, 000 minimum wage.
The company said the decision forms part of efforts to improve employee welfare while supporting job creation and skills development among young people.
In a statement issued yesterday, Sky Clouds said the salary alignment would also be extended across its subsidiary portfolio, including Sky Clouds Properties, Sky Clouds Logistics, Sky Clouds Energies, Sky Clouds Supplies & Distribution, Sky Clouds Warehouse and the Hotel School.
“The decision reflects the company’s recognition of the rising cost of living and the importance of fair and dignified remuneration,” the company said. Sky Clouds said improved compensation would contribute to staff well-being, workforce stability and sustainable business growth. The company also said it was prioritising youth employment through a preferential recruitment approach targeting first-time job seekers.
“In support of Botswana’s Vision 2036, Sky Clouds applies a preferential recruitment approach for first-time job seekers, with a particular focus on expanding opportunities for young people,” it said.
According to the company, workplace experience and training provided through institutions such as the Hotel School would help young entrants acquire skills for long-term careers in hospitality and related sectors.
Sky Clouds said the initiative was part of its broader commitment to local skills development and job creation. The Botswana-based, multi-sector group has interests spanning hospitality, property, logistics, energy, supplies and warehousing.
