Six Batswana perish in SA road mishap

Six Batswana are reported to have died on Monday evening in South Africa after a public transport Toyota Quantum from Botswana to Johannesburg was involved in an accident.

The Toyota Quantum allegedly got a tyre punture, lost control and overturned on the way from Groblesbridge to Johannesburg towards Lephalale town along R572 road with 14 passengers, all females from Botswana on board.

Confirming to have even visited the surviving passengers where they are currently hospitalised in South Africa early today, Martin’s Drift Acting police station commander, Assistant Superintendent, Moses Morolong referred this publication to the South African police who are investigating the case. Morolong confirmed that indeed six Batswana lost their lives and two are still critical.

“Yes it true six Batswana lost their lives in a road mishap in South Africa. We are not investigating the case but earlier today I visited my fellow police officers in South Africa and had the opportunity to visit the surviving passengers and two are still critical while others were treated and released,” Morolong said.
