'Silence Means Consent - MPs Tell Merafhe On Zim Crises

Members of Parliament this week rallied together to launch an unprecedented attack on Botswana's foreign policy towards Zimbabwe, charging that to maintain silence while ordinary Zimbabweans were "violated and raped" made Botswana an accomplice in the atrocities of Robert Mugabe's regime.

The frontal assault was spearheaded by 'free-ranging' MP, Botsalo Ntuane, who used a strong parallel to portray the paralysis of silent diplomacy as a policy when the House debated budget proposals of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Interantional Co-operation for 2007/8:

"It is like watching a woman being violated and raped in front of you and not taking any action," said the specially elected legislator.
