Siele reports 22 companies liquidated

At least 22 companies have been put under liquidation for the financial years 2007/08 - 2008/09, Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Peter Siele said yesterday.

He was responding to a question from MP for Lobatse, Nehemiah Modubule, who also wanted to know how many employees were affected and the amount paid to the employees. Siele replied that over 500 employees lost their jobs in the five cases that were concluded adding that for other companies, the liquidation process has not been concluded.

The companies, whose liquidation has been completed include Lobtrans involving 180 employees gone, Sarnia (PTY) Ltd, 66, Habitat (PTY) Ltd, 33, Fabulous Flowers (PTY) Ltd, 45, and Tswana Steel and Iron Co/Ramotswa Steel, 258.
