Siele accused of dishonesty

Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) has accused Labour and Home Affairs Minister Peter Siele of dishonesty after he included diamond work under essential services.

BFTU secretary general Gadzani Mhotsha said that they are shocked that Siele has acted contrary to what he told them at a June meeting when he said that he would table the bill on amending the Trade Dispute Act, in the November parliamentary sitting and after consulting with relevant stakeholders.

"The rush and high degree of disingenuousness displayed by government regarding the essential services is disappointing to say the least. The initial notice from the minister only included veterinary and teaching services.
