Police in Shoshong are investigating eight students of Shoshong Senior Secondary School after they were found in possession of a substance suspected to be dagga.

It is alleged that teachers found the four females and four males aged between 17 and 19, smoking the substance last Monday and reported the case to the police. The students allegedly spent a night in police custody on Monday and were released Tuesday morning after police searched their rooms. Shoshong Police Station commander Superintendent Gaontebale Mathonse confirmed the incident.

He said that while they did not find dagga in the students' rooms, they showed them where they buy the substance. Mathonse added that they plan to raid the place that the students said they buy the substance from. He revealed that his officers did not find anyone at the place when they visited yesterday. He said his officers will investigate the case and see if there are any students involved in peddling the substance. The station commander said although they have similar cases, it is the first case in his policing area that involves students.
