Shortage of office space hits Kweneng

The Lentsweletau/Molepolole sub-district council has had to give up eight port-a-cabins to Mogoditshane/Thamaga sub-district council. This was after the latter terminated its lease with a Mogoditshane landlord before finding alternative office space.

Lentsweletau/Molepolole sub-district council chairman, Shima Monageng said yesterday in a council meeting that they have given the port-a-cabins to their counterparts "since they had more problems than we do", he said.He said that his staff have since moved into their old conference room in Molepolole, which he says is unsuitable for the conduct of public business.

"This unfortunate situation compounds the already existing shortage of office space and calls for urgent consideration for alternative sites where the sub district council could be adequately housed," he said.He noted that they have in the past tried to look for accommodation but failed. "In my view, identifying alternative office space must be revived and pursued with vigour," he concluded.
