Shooting victim negotiates P4m payout

The Attorney Generals Chambers has acknowledged that they are handling a matter that involves the unlawful shooting of a Gaborone man, Ofentse Morwe, last year and that the parties involved are negotiating an out of court settlement.

"The process is at an advanced stag," says the public relations officer for the AGs, Abigail Hlabano, Morwe wants the government to pay him P4 million in damages after his shooting by an officer of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Botswana Police Service last year.

Morwe (22) says he was shot and wounded by a plainclothes police officer on August 22 last year near Phakalane while he was on his way to work.
