Shashe Students Donate To Destitute

TONOTA: Shashe River School Geography Club members donated grocery worth more than P700 and clothing to a destitute in Tonota over the weekend.

About 11 members of the club accompanied by their teachers, Letlhogonolo Lepekola and Witness Same took time to clean the yard and house of the elderly beneficiary Mochichi Setlhare. The old man is partially blind and deaf. He stays alone in an unfinished one-roomed house that was built by Barclays Bank.

There is no toilet and Setlhare's yard is not fenced. The yard is full of shrubs and looks like a dumping site. Besides the lonely old man's room, there is another dilapidated house that had provided shelter for him over the years. Inside Setlhare's room, there is a bed and two blankets. Among his properties is a broken garden chair and two bricks that serve as seats for visitors.
