Sex with flavour and colour

PSI has introduced Lovers Plus coloured and flavoured condoms in Botswana after a research study highlighted that the users were not satisfied with the smell of latex condoms. Speaking at a launch held at Gaborone International Conference Centre (GICC) on Tuesday evening, the PSI Country Representative Soumitro Ghosh said that the three flavoured condoms in one pack, were introduced to make sex more enjoyable whilst protecting oneself.

According to Ghosh a pack would sell at a retail price of P5.Ghosh said he was hopeful that the condoms will be well received in the market and that in a year I million condoms would have been sold.

The assorted pack of condoms consists of three flavours, of banana, mint and strawberry. Ghosh said that four million Lovers Plus plain condoms are sold annually. The ordinary Lovers Plus condoms have been re-launched with an improved packaging while the retail price remains unchaged at P2. Condoms are exempt from taxes and they do not attract VAT.  Ghosh noted that there has been an increase in condom use among the 15 to 24 year olds, from one percent in 1988 to over 72 percent in 2004. "You cannot afford to have intercourse without a condom," he said.
