Young people in developing countries must develop a sense of service without expecting any reward, the first secretary at the Namibian High Commission in Gaborone has said.

Felix Tughuyendere said it is important to instill the principle of service in the youth in order to encourage the formation of humanitarian medical groups and other charity non-state actors that can help in time of crisis.

"We cannot afford to raise a generation of young people who, all they know, is to call upon governments or parents to do something for them," he said at the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) awards ceremony in Gaborone on Saturday night.
