Serial rapist sentenced to 32 years in jail

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Selebi-Phikwe Chief Magistrate Gaedupe Makgato has sentenced Badisa Lefeletse to 32 years in prison for three counts of rape.

While Makgato noted that the accused pleaded guilty to all the charges saving the court time, he emphasised that he committed a serious offence, which involved a three-year-old victim.

He stated that the accused committed the offence while on bail for another rape case. Makgato sentenced Lefeletse to 12 years in prison for the rape of the minor. On the second count of rape, Lefeleletse was condemned to 10 years behind bars. Makgato said he has noted what the accused said in mitigation but cautioned that the prevalence of rape cases in his area of jurisdiction is alarming.
