Minister of Justice, Defence and Security, Ramadeluka Seretse has declined to comment on calls from opposition parties for him to resign from his position pending investigations into possible conflict of interest in the award of tenders to RFT Botswana (Pty) Ltd - a company under the directorship of his wife and his brother.

The company has won tenders worth over P1 million from departments under his ministry, he confirmed to Parliament recently. Among the departments under Seretse's ministry are Botswana Defence Force (BDF), Botswana Police, Directorate of Intelligence and Security (DIS) among others. RFT Botswana has in the past won tenders to supply one of the departments with equipment.

Speaking in a brief interview yesterday, Seretse said that it would be unprofessional and unwise to comment on matters that are being investigated by Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crimes (DCEC). It would be unprofessional and unwise for me to do that," he said.He stated that the DCEC should be given time to do their investigations and that he would be prepared to answer any quieries once the findings have been brought forward.
