Former Defence, Justice and Security Minister, Ramadeluka Seretse, left the Gaborone Regional Magistrates Court a free man yesterday after the criminal charges he has faced for more than a year were thrown out.

At the end of a lengthy judgement, Regional Magistrate Barnabas Nyamadzabo pronounced Seretse acquitted and discharged, to the delight of the former minister and his defence team that has been fighting to have charges against their client withdrawn.

The former cabinet minister was in the dock for allegedly failing to declare his interest in a company that won tenders to do business with government departments under his ministerial portfolio.  According to the charge sheet, Seretse allegedly acted in contravention of Section 31 (1) as read with Section 36 of the Corruption and Economic Crime Act.
