FRANCISTOWN: Fresh from winning the Sekoma council by-election against a combined opposition, the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) will over the weekend hold primary elections to pick a candidate for the looming Phillip Matante East by-election.

Francistown South branch secretary, Modiri Lucas, yesterday confirmed that the party has chosen to hold the primaries over the weekend in a bid to expedite its preparations for the by-election.

The by-election seeks to replace former Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) councillor Shadreck Nyeku, who died last month after collapsing during a party meeting.
