Sekgororoane ditches BNF for BMD

Botswana National Front (BNF) activist Rhoda Sekgororoane confirmed yesterday that she has joined the Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) after realising it is more serious about dislodging the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) from power.

Sekgororoane has been a BNF activist for about 17 years. She said she left to join a party "of people whose hearts are as painful as mine about the BDP".

"I have suffered at the hands of the BDP especially as a member of the Botswana Caucus for Women in Politics where I was sabotaged through ploys engineered by members of that party [BDP]," she explained.  She said she has no problem with the BNF membership or its new leadership. She said the leadership of BNF president Duma Boko is splendid. "Unlike past presidents, he does not take sides with some members against others. He is also committed to developing the party into a formidable organisation that can effectively run its affairs. When he came in, he made sure the party office was in good shape to deliver services to the membership.
