Sefhare hospital auditors smell a rat

An internal auditors report on Sefhare Primary Hospital has revealed damning allegations of corruption by a supplies officer.

The report also makes claims about the hospital management's lack of compliance with government rules and procedure.

The report recommended that the Directorate on Economic Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC) should investigate their findings. The hospital management has acknowledged the revealing audit. It has been observed that the poor filing system allows for a deliberate destruction of records to conceal information. The report alleges possible connivance between the supplies officer and suppliers. The suspicion emerged after observations that nearly all goods purchased by the hospital were made without the required minimum of five quotations. "We strongly urge management to ensure that the requirement of obtaining five quotations is complied with and that the quotations should be evaluated fairly before any purchase is done."
