The South East District Council (SEDC) chairman, Phenyo Segokgo says the council has not been doing well on handyman programme due to failure by some school heads to account for funds.

The handyman programme is the money given to schools by the council for minor maintenance of schools. The schools are given P5,000 every financial year. “The problem experienced under this programme is that of accountability for funds on the part of the schools.

The department has nonetheless engaged school heads on numerous occasions to identify possible ways of executing this programme effectively,” Segokgo said last week when addressing councillors.
