Security Guard Pleads Guilty To Stealing Orange Money

FRANCISTOWN: A Security Systems guard on Friday pleaded guilty to 21 counts of stealing money using the Orange Money transfer service.

Thirty-five-year-old Odigetse Tiro of Block 1 committed the offences between August 1 and October 18, 2014 at the Orange Botswana shop situated at Nzano Mall.

Tiro is charged together with his girlfriend who was not before court because she is currently in confinement. The total money that Tiro admitted to have stolen using the Orange Money transfer service is P22,250. The accused told the court that he will engage an attorney to represent him in the matter. State prosecutor, Gasemotho Pitlagano from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions told the court that he did not object to the accused being given conditional bail because investigations into the matter are complete. Pitlagano also told the court that he did not anticipate that Tiro will plead guilty to the charge therefore he was applying for another date of mention to be set so that he can have an opportunity to prepare the facts of the case.
