Security firms slashed

The number of registered security guard companies in the country has been slashed by almost half from over 1,000.

Towards the end of last year in November, the office of the controller of security guards services in the Office of the President de-listed 460 companies, which failed to comply with licensing requirements.

According to superintendent Thapelo Sekape of the newly introduced controller of security guards services, the companies they de-listed in November had not renewed their licences since 2004.
