Sebego and Magama in court face-off

Gaborone lawyer and Botswana National Front (BNF) politician, Tebogo Sebego, has joined his party in court to oppose an application by Gaborone South MP Akanyang Magama.

Magama has launched a court battle against his party, demanding to be declared the BNF's parliamentary candidate for Gaborone South in the 2009 general elections.

Magama is alleging that there is a conspiracy by the BNF leadership to oust him, after he emerged the victor in the party's primaries. Magama beat Sebego at the party's primaries, polling 1,148 votes while Sebego garnered 1,103. But Magama's victory was short-lived because the BNF's Appeals Committee soon nullified the results and ordered a re-run.
