Search for herdsboy still on

The search for Monageng 'White' Lekaunyana of Kanye by Sejelo police is still on. Lekaunyana (50), who worked as a herdsboy reportedly went missing on June 4, 2011 at Bakwenyana lands, 40 kilometres west of Kanye.

On the day he went missing, he told his employer that he was going to look for cattle but never returned. Police investigations have revealed that he was spotted near a shebeen late on the day he went missing. However, his employer did not report the incident until April 4, 2012 when his relatives went to look for him at the lands.  He told the police that he thought Lekaunyana had gone to Kanye, his home village.

Deputy station commander of Sejelo Police Station, Assistant Superintendent Letsweletse Rannoba, said they believe that Lekaunyana is alive as they have not found anything for them to suspect otherwise. He revealed that they sent a missing person's report to all police stations around the country. Rannoba said his station records an average four cases of missing persons annually. He, however, assured that so far all the reported missing people have been found. He further disclosed that they have never recorded a case of ritual murder.
