SELEBI-PHIKWE: Botswana Congress Party (BCP) president Gilson Saleshando suffered a defeat in a case in which he had accused his former housemaid of stealing his axe and saw worth P40 each.

Saleshando, who is also Selebi-Phikwe West parliamentary hopeful in the October 16 general election, lost the case on a technicality yesterday as the police had charged the accused - Khupe Khupe - with a wrong offence.

The accused was supposed to face a theft common charge under Section 264 but the police charge sheet indicated a stealing by servant charge under Section 277.
