True to his word, aspiring Member of Parliament for the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) Dumelang Saleshando visited the University of Botswana to interact with the students following sabotage by the Student Representative Council (SRC).

Dumelang Saleshando was seen yesterday fielding questions as he sat among students at the student centre at the main campus of UB in Gaborone. "I do not need permission from the SRC to visit UB to interact with the students and I do not need any security to vet me," Saleshando said. "I am not here to address a public gathering but to meet the students individually."

The BCP candidate told Mmegi afterwards that most of the students who came to see him wanted to know what they should do when voting and a copy of his party's manifesto. "I wanted the students to know that I am accessible despite the picture the SRC was trying to paint of me to the students," he said. "We will also go on a door-to-door campaign and a walkabout for on-campus students. We have done that before, so we will be scaling up the campaign."
