Sale of obsolete BDF aircraft halted

The sale of two of Botswana Defence Force (BDF) aircraft CN-235-10 and their spare parts has been halted after it was discovered that procurement rules and regulations were flouted.

Recently, the BDF requested the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) not to award the tender to dispose of the two planes asking that it should be re-tendered.  While public relations officer at PPADB, Ditapole Chibua-Tseboeng, did not have enough details, she said that it was the BDF that requested the re-tendering, citing dissatisfaction with compliance with the tendering procedures. She would not reveal details.

A special procurement board is tasked with acquiring military equipment for the BDF and the public relations and protocol office did not have readily available information on the matter. The officers were expected to avail all relevant information this morning.
