Salary talks in state of flux

Parties negotiating public salary adjustments were rumoured to have went back to the drawing board last night. It was not certain whether talks were revived or the meeting discussed what has been labelled an 'unauthorised media release' by DPSM boss, writes BABOKI KAYAWE

If the said nocturnal meeting did not produce any agreement between parties, public service unions will today register a dispute with the Commissioner of Labour, Rose Sennanyana subsequent to deadlocked salary negotiations for the financial year 2012/2013 yesterday.

The unions seek mediation despite dampened hopes for a favourable outcome from the forum. The media statement from the Public Service Bargaining Council (BPSBC) says, "parties disagreed on the percentage to be awarded and the effective date for implementation of the proposed salary adjustment".
