SADC peacekeepers end two - week course

HARARE - Forty-nine graduates from Southern Africa, including five Batswana, have been awarded certificates after completing a peace support course at the Regional Peacekeeping Training Centre (RPTC) here.

All the 14 Southern African Development Community (SADC) countries sent students to undergo the two-week course at the centre, which is run by the SADC Secretariat but hosted in Harare. Three non-SADC countries, Nigeria, Uganda and Ethiopia, also sent students to Harare for the training.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, RPTC commander Colonel Milanzi said the course was important in SADC's thrust to ensure that peace and stability prevails in the region.
