SA hotel chiefs summoned to Botswana

Parliament heard on Friday that the management of Grand Palm Hotel in South Africa has been summoned to Botswana after hotel workers complained about ill-treatment by their superiors.

Former Labour and Home Affairs Minister Moeng Pheto made the disclosure in response to Tswapong South MP Oreeditse Molebatsi who had accused the ministry of doing nothing when companies abuse Batswana, citing a senior employee of Grand Palm.  Molebatsi called for action against the expatriate manager whom he accused of flouting labour laws as he fired employees at will.

Parliament was debating a motion by Shoshong MP Duke Lefhoko that requests government to formulate a policy on Citizen Economic Empowerment (CEE) as a matter of urgency.
