South Africa’s leading private tertiary education provider, Curro Holdings confirmed yesterday that it has acquired 50% of homegrown higher education entity, BA ISAGO University. The Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed firm said in a brief statement yesterday that the transaction will be facilitated through Curro’s wholly-owned subsidiary, the Embury Institute for Higher Education.

Two weeks ago, the Competition Authority issued a merger notice on the proposed acquisition.

“The Competition Authority has received a merger notification for the proposed acquisition of 50% of the shares in BA ISAGO University (Pty) Ltd by Wenge (Pty) Ltd,” read the notice.
