SA ballistics expert probes Kalafatis case

As investigations surrounding the death of John Kalafatis continue, the Kalafatis family last Sunday flew in veteran South African ballistics expert, Thomas 'Wollie' Wolmarans to inspect the two-door Opel Corsa car that the late Kalafatis was shot in.

According to the family lawyer Dick Bayford, Wolmarans, who left yesterday, also looked at the photos taken from the scene of the crime and those of the victim.

According to Bayford, Wolmarans was roped in to assist in the family's private investigations as the Kalafatis' family seek to mount independent investigations parallel to the state's investigations. "Our expert came and examined the vehicle in the presence of police officers from the forensic department," revealed Bayford.
