TOBANE: The state of despair and urgent need of clothing, food and proper shelter is evident on the faces of the Ranko family in Tobane village. The unemployed Mariah and her husband Ranko have 12 children. They are living in two clay structures.

The situation in the family caught the eye of the Selebi-Phikwe Round Table who adopted the family and pledged to give them money to buy groceries every month. The family was identified through the Department of Social Services and Community Development. The family's blessings arrived last Saturday when the Tablers drove to the home in a procession of more than 10 vehicles to deliver food and blankets. The short occasion was graced by the presence of the headman, relatives and neighbours who commended the efforts of the Round Table members.

Round Table 52 chairman Eugine Evans, noted that Round Table comprises young male professionals who impart their knowledge and skills for the benefit of the community they live in. He said they mainly engage in charitable activities as evidenced by the Botshabelo Day Care Centre the Tablers are running. For the past 10 years Round Table 52 have been donating P10,000 to the centre annually.
