On your mark: Venson- Moitoi is facing off against Kazibiwe and another challenger

Two challengers have joined Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi in the race for chairmanship of the African Union Commission, a report by the Institute for Security Studies Peace and Security Council has said.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has to contend with Specioza Kazibwe, 60, from Uganda and Agapito Mokuy, 51, from Equatorial Guinea.

Kazibwe is seen as Venson-Moitoi’s biggest threat, having served as vice president of Uganda from 1994 to 2003, being the first woman in Africa to hold such a position.
