Richard Matlhare appointed NACA head

President Ian Khama has appointed Mr Richard Kabeto Matlhare to the post of National Coordinator for the National AIDS Coordinating Agency (NACA). Matlhare replaces Batho Christopher Molomo who retired at the end of February this year.

Matlhare joined NACA in 2004 as Head of Behavior Change Interventions and Communication, which provides oversight for HIV prevention initiatives. 

Before this, he had served in a number of positions in the public service, among them as a Dental Therapist at both Sekgoma Memorial and Princess Marina Hospitals; and as a Senior Lecturer in Health Education/Health Promotion at the Institute of Health Sciences in Gaborone, where he rose to the level of Head of Department. In 2001, he joined UNDP as the Manager for Teacher Capacity Building Project, a television programme on HIV and AIDS popularly known as Talk Back on Botswana Television. NACA is an extra Ministerial Department under the Ministry of State President.
