MOSOLOTSHANE: Residents of Mosolotshane ward in the Shoshong constituency have unconditionally thrown their weight behind their councillor Mogalakwe Mogalakwe despite his expulsion from the Botswana National Front (BNF). The residents backed the councillor after attending a political rally he held to brief his supporters on the expulsion.

The BNF kicked-out Mogalakwe over the weekend after he was found guilty of indiscipline. However, during his well-attended rally, it was obvious that he still has die-hard supporters in the ward. The residents pledged unwavering support for their embattled councillor irrespective of his party. "Every party is only as good as its local representative and if BNF has expelled Mogalakwe, they should know that they have officially disbanded the party in this area," said an elderly Gokannamang Dikhuhana. He asserted that the BNF erred in expelling the councillor. "He is our councillor. If they did not like him, they should have come here and told us what law he broke. As far as I am concerned, he is my man and I would vote him whether he is with the party or not," he swore.

He said he is waiting for Mogalakwe's next move but left no doubt he would help him win the ward even if he stands as an independent candidate. "If Mogalakwe decides to stand independently as he said today, I am ready to support him and I am ready to recruit more members to vote for him," he said.
