Repeating UB students loose allowances

The department of student placement and welfare at the Ministry of Education has stopped allowances for about 20 000 students they sponsor at the University of Botswana.

According to the principal public relations officer, Nomsah Zuze, the affected students have either extended their courses or they have 15 credits and below in their final year.

"As soon as we discovered such students in our system, we stopped their allowances because they have not been honest with us as per the agreement we signed," Zuze said. "All that we are saying is that they should be responsible for their actions," she said.
