Regional women politicians stir local peers

Women politicians have been urged to mentor girls and young women for future political leadership. Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) regional chairperson for Central Africa, Jean Kapata recently said mentorship of young women and girls is important in ensuring that there is a pool of female politicians in the future.

She said this would ensure that African countries are able to meet the quotas they have set for women representation in Parliament and other decision-making positions.

African women have been working tirelessly towards meeting these quotas with very little success, she said.
