The 41 asylum seekers currently housed at Molepolole Centre for Illegal Immigrants will be handed to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) next week, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Justice Defence and Security, Augustine Makgonatsotlhe said yesterday.

He could not disclose how much the exercise will cost Botswana because preparations are still going on.

He said that the Botswana government has already given the DRC government the list of asylum seekers. The DRC government is tracing the relatives to confirm if indeed they are Congolese citizens.
