'Red Sea'as Rammidi wrests Kanye North from BNF

KANYE: The Botswana National Front (BNF) lost its traditional stronghold Kanye North constituency to their bitter rival, the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP), by a massive margin of 1,403 votes in the general elections last Friday.

Kentse Rammidi - a rising star over a strenuously competitive BDP horizon for the past two years - garnered 7,004 votes against the BNF's Calvin Batsile's 5,601 votes while Koorapetse Mokopakgosi of the Botswan,a Congress Party (BCP) came a humble third with 309 votes.

In the 2004 elections, Batsile beat Rammidi with a margin of 729.
