Red Cross Top Job 'Moves Out' Of State House

Since its formation in the late 1960s, women, predominantly First Ladies, have headed the Botswana Red Cross Society (BRCS). This led to the assumption that the position is for First Ladies.

However, the recent election of Churchill Kgati as president of the BRCS has buckled the trend. BRSC marketing and communications manager, Cassius Mmopelwa explains that the development has not come because of a change in their constitution.

He says the top position has always been open to anyone and it was not restricted to women or females with high connections to State House.
