Recession blights Mayor's plans

FRANCISTOWN: The mayor of Francistown says he had several goals when he came into office in 2009, but the economic recession worked against them as most projects had to be halted.

The mayor, Shadrack Nyeku is one of the first crop of mayors to serve for two-and-a-half years. However, inspite of the recession, he believes he achieved some major things.

"Things have not moved as expected because of the global economic crisis that also affected Botswana," he says.
