Maipelo* (Not her real name) woke up to strange faces of two men in the early hours of January 19, 2013 threatening to end her life if she did not give them money. She begged the two knife-wielding men, to take everything but spare her life.

"It was around 3am when I was woken up by two men who demanded money from me. I told them there was no money and they demanded cellphones and a screwdriver to remove the LCD screen. I gave them my cellphone and another that belonged to my child," she said. "They tied my hands and covered my mouth with my clothes," she related during an exclusive interview with Mmegi. "One of the two men then proceeded to the lounge/sittingroom where he unscrewed the TV screen, whilst the other demanded that I undress. He wanted to rape me right there in the bedroom, in front of my kids, but I begged him not to. He then pulled me to the spare room where he raped me. When he was done, he forced me into the bathroom, pointing a knife at me, ordering me to bath," she narrated.
