Ramsden intercedes for squatters

MAUN: More than 240 families in a squatter settlement near here will have temporary relief from the spectre of demolition following Minister Frank Ramsden's intervention.

Many residents of Shashe, most of them women who rear goats as beneficiaries of government assistance schemes, had received letters from Tawana Land Board (TLB) telling them to move from the area.

Many of them say they were born and bred at this settlement, on the outskirts of the resort town of the world famous-Okavango Delta and have nowhere else to go, especially that the land board that wants them out has offered no alternative.
