Ramatlabama police are investigating a case in which a 54-year-old woman of Dinatshana village was attacked and raped by a 34-year-old intruder on Friday night.

The police said the suspect, who is currently in police custody, attacked the victim whilst in her sleep and raped her before fleeing the crime scene. Ramatlabama police station commander, superintendent Zibani Mbisana said the victim managed to identify the suspect who resides in the same neighbourhood and was arrested the following day (on Saturday).

“The suspect is ... likely to be arraigned before the Lobatse Magistrate's Court today (Monday) to face a single count of rape,” Mbisana said.
