Rakhudu explains brigades staffing problems

The engagement of some employees of brigades on temporary contracts is due to huge expenditure incurred by the Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) in the last leg of the takeover of brigades by government, Parliament has heard.

The Assistant Minister of Education, Keletso Rakhudu, recently told the House that his ministry inherited debts and liabilities of the 18 brigades in the takeover last year.

Rakhudu said the decision to take over brigades was arrived at because some of the institutions were on the brink of collapse. He was responding to a question by the MP for Chobe, Gibson Nshimwe.
