Puso turns down Kgafela

The Kgosikgolo of Batlokwa, Puso Gaborone has turned down a request by his Bakgatla counterpart Kgosi Kgafela Kgafela to host a protest meeting against extra-judicial killings at the Batlokwa Kgotla in Tlokweng on June 16.

Kgosi Kgafela is trying to crystallise civic society against extra-judicial killings that have taken place over the past year in Botswana. The Bakgatla sovereign confirmed yesterday that Kgosi Gaborone had told him that his Kgotla would not be available on June 16.

At least 14 suspected criminals have been shot and killed by state security agents since April last year, sparking fears that extra-judicial executions could be replacing due process.
