Psychiatrist gives evidence

FRANCISTOWN: A consultant psychiatrist has testified that a murder accused person had relapsed at the time he allegedly killed his mother at Mookane village three years ago.

Dr Namendwa Leech of Lobatse Mental Hospital (LMH) was giving evidence in a case in which the 37-year-old Stephen Tjintjindwa is facing one count of killing his mother Serie Tjitjindwa, 63, on September 22, 2006. The accused person is also facing another charge of unlawful wounding as it is alleged that on the same day, he wounded Peke Makgasa by stabbing him with a knife.

The psychiatrist said Tjintjindwa was re-admitted to LMH on April 16, 2009 as a referral from Jubilee psychiatrist unit, Francistown, under the court order for assessment and report when he appeared before Justice Mpaphi Phumaphi.
