A controversial advert by the condom distributor Population Services International (PSI) Botswana has been removed after a public outcry. The advert is part of a major campaign by the marketers of the Lovers Plus brand to introduce their flavoured and coloured condoms and move into the lucrative niche market.

The now infamous "Ma-14" advert which ran on local publications depicts a girl who supposedly engages in sexual intercourse with an older man advocating the use of condoms presumably, the PSI's Lovers Plus flavoured and coloured range. Sources at PSI indicate that the advert caused a major split among the management of the company for its dramatic concept.

In the advert a young girl sits on the floor, leaning against a wall, smiling, with two cartons of condoms next to her. She says: "Ke le 14 and I am going out with an older man who adds flavour to my life and one thing I do is have protected sex using Lovers Plus condoms every time".
